About the SSW Program
The Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) program is a work‑based residence status designed to allow foreign nationals
to work as immediate contributors in industries facing severe labor shortages. Unlike Technical Intern Training,
companies must directly employ the worker and establish an appropriate support system.
Our office provides end‑to‑end support for SSW Type 1 and Type 2 applications, including document preparation,
development of support plans, and preparation of explanatory materials for employers —
including certified application proxy services.
Key Features of the SSW Program
Unlike Technical Intern Training, SSW is a “work visa.”
Companies must directly employ the worker and implement a support plan.
Limited to 14 designated labor‑shortage sectors.
SSW Type 2 allows family accompaniment and eligibility for permanent residency.
